A payment plan changes when you pay, not necessarily the price or clinical suitability of treatment. Before accepting financing for Florida dental care, keep the treatment estimate and the credit agreement as separate documents. This worksheet helps you compare the total commitment and questions to ask; it is not a credit recommendation or a judgment about the treatment you need.
Start with the nonfinanced treatment proposal
Request the complete written treatment price, proposed procedures, expected visits and items not included. Ask what payment would be due without financing and whether any offer depends on a particular payment method. Compare proposals only after a dentist explains differences in scope. A financing approval does not establish that treatment is required, that the quoted work is complete or that another clinician would recommend the same plan.
Read the credit agreement beyond the monthly amount
Ask who provides the credit, the amount financed, the payment schedule, interest or other finance charges, and the total payable if the schedule is followed. Read promotional conditions, deadlines, late-payment terms and any deferred-interest provisions with the lender. The ADA financing resource provides background questions; it does not evaluate your contract. Use the actual agreement, not a salesperson’s description that payments are easy or interest free.
Plan for changes in care or your circumstances
Ask the practice and lender separately how they handle cancellation, refunds, partial treatment, insurance reimbursement and transfer of care. Find out when loan funds are paid to the practice and whether your repayment obligation continues while a refund is being processed. Keep enough information to identify the treatment and credit transactions without sending account numbers to this website. Test the payment schedule against your household budget, including existing obligations and essential expenses.
Evidence to collect before comparing quotes
- Complete treatment estimate and price without financing
- Lender agreement, payment schedule and total payable
- Written cancellation, refund and treatment-interruption process
Record the provider, document date, proposed service and what remains uncertain. Keep unknown amounts marked unknown, not zero. Do not upload clinical records or account identifiers to the calculator.
Use the evidence in your decision
Enter only additional finance charges in the quote comparator’s finance field when the treatment price is already entered; do not add the loan principal a second time. Review the agreement with an appropriately qualified adviser when needed, and discuss clinical choices with a licensed dentist.
